My Story
My own yoga journey began in 1998 when I joined an introductory Ashtanga Yoga course in Calgary. Similar to other people, my motivation to begin yoga was to get a physical workout. I soon discovered there was more benefits to yoga than only the physical domain. As a dedicated student of yoga for now over 25 years and teacher for 14 years, I continue to embrace learning about this ancient practice.
My first 200 hour training course in 2009 was with Yogaworks in Santa Monica, CA focused on Vinyasa Flow. I had the pleasure to work with amazing teachers like Annie Carpenter, Kia Miller, Bahni Turpin and Joan Hyman. In 2010, I completed a 100 hour certification in ISHTA Yoga (Integrated Science of Hatha, Tantra and Ayurveda). Then, in 2012, at the Yoga Journal Conference in San Diego I took workshops with such yoga teachers as Sean Corne, David Swenson, Kathryn Budig, Gary Kraftsow, Vinnie Marino and more. I completed a Yin Yoga Certification in 2016 and I most recently a 500 hour certification both through the Canadian Institute of Therapeutic Yoga.
I completed a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology largely because of the influence of Yoga on my life and now work as Registered Provisional Psychologist in private practice. I believe in the great wisdom available through blending of eastern philosophy and western psychology. Truly everyone is capable of generating greater inner peace through the practices of yoga. Inner peace is already within all of us, yoga helps us remember.
